I did it! I took a photograph. Not a picture or a snapshot—-I’ve taken hundreds of them before; I mean a real photograph. I wish I had it with me here at work so I could upload it. I’ll have to do it later…I’m SO happy with it. Now, just to practice, practice, practice so I can get more of these. :O) Out of the candids I took on vacation the one I was hoping for turned out really well.

I’ve known since DH gave me my awesome new camera (Canon Digital Rebel EOS) for Christmas that I need to practice to learn how to use the camera as well as how to improve my photography (you mean a photograph isn’t just point and shoot? VBG). But, I never seem to get around to that practice. The camera comes out when I want to record an event or a moment but that is it.
This week at Chincoteague I had the sheer joy of toting the camera around and just taking shots. Sitting on the dock, focussed on A seagull, waiting for it to take of so I could try and capture it in flight. Taking candids of DD and our DF’s kids, who were COMPLETELY unaware, and getting a few really neat shots mixed in with the okay ones. It was fun and liberating to just sit back and shoot.
So, now I have to find ways to do this. We will be headed to the beach again for several weekends in late Sept./early Oct. so that will be a good time for it. I think I should take the little one to the local parks, etc. and maybe do a bit of walking to practice between now and then too.
