shave my head

I looked into the Headblade, but settled on the electric because it’s easy to shave anytime and without water. I used clippers initially. I’ve left a frame around the sides that will require weekly maintenance. Probably should have done this a couple of years ago. I doubt if I’ll ever grow it out again, now that it’s offf.

Last night I tried them out using a rake attachment. Seemed to work well, so I took off the rake and cleaned up the top of my head on the lowest setting. It doesn’t get as close as a razor, of course, but it’s pretty good. This weekend I’ll experiment some more with it. If I can maintain the look myself, I’m more likely to keep it. I hate going to barbers.

Mr. Jimmy, the stylist I went to yesterday, suggested that I keep a bit around the sides and see how I like it. At first he left some on the top, too, and I must admit I could appreciate the look he was trying to create, but I could also see that it would look pretty scruffy in two or three weeks, so I asked him to take more off. He said he thought I needed some texture around the sides/back (my head is somewhat elongated), so he left about a half inch of growth all around, clean on top. When I got home, Kathy said it looked really good, though I think she would have said that no matter what. The acid test will be today at work. Let’s see who even notices. I may still shave it all off yet.

I’ve made an appointment with Mr. Jimmy at The Cutting Room. My scalp will be in his hands.

I’ve been thinking of just doing the top and leaving some around the sides/back. Kathy says shave it all off. It will look sexy. I’m not convinced. After talking about it, I’ve decided I will leave this entirely up to the stylist. If the verdict is it should all go, so be it. The mustache too.

(But I must admit, it scares me.)
