yesterday, i was walking back from the local organic food store, thinking about how awesome it is that i inspired my best friend to join me on my trip to guatemala this summer (two months working in a jungle ecological park). its so cool to inspire someone to do something amazing like that, and i was reflecting on how stoked i was to play that role in his life. then i realized that i have the knowledge (ive done similar things before), personality (im me), and resources (im a student at a college) to inspire more people to do the same. so today i went to the student leadership office and talked to them about starting up a club where we fund raise until the summer, and then all go volunteer in guatemala together. wed need to fund raise $9,000 u.s. dollars to send eight people to guatemala for two months, including cost of living, round trip plane tickets, and a $5,200 tax-deductible donation to the 501c3 non-profit wed be working with. so more on this later!
of course, if i dont get accepted into the four year university, this wont happen as ill be travelling for much longer than a few months and much sooner than the summer. so this plan is sort of assuming that i get accepted into the university.
