spending the time in between olympic events cleaning the fridge, sorting stuff, throwing away irrelevant paper. I can’t say that it’s uncluttered around here now, but it is more orderly. And for sure, major amounts of recycling has been generated.
I’m not composting these days, but the fridge clean has me reinspired. Way too much organic waste going into the trash. So once I get that new container planted, I think I can be back on the bokashi wagon.

got a labeler,
pulled out the notorious bottom drawer and threw away half of the old gunk in there. then filed the rest away. for this exercise alone, the labeler seems worth it. let’s hope that the little machine does not itself become clutter.

is really hard for me. But I realize that I do have some, that I just don’t need. And others might be able to use. So I’m doing it, via bookmooch – a source of great satisfaction.

is hard, and sometimes poignant. But I’m trying to do it. I’ve got one pile for storage, one for giving away. The goal – to keep the give away pile larger than the keeper pile. Arrgh. Not helping that I haven’t had coffee today. Need some kind of chemical fortification!

to goodwill today. why does it feel as though no matter how much I get rid of, there’s still more? must be more ruthless! Going to bundle some linens and craft things that I demonstrably do not use.

so works when I do it. Like the last couple of days. periodic decluttering can work wonders. Unfortunately I am accumulating some small piles of clutter around the doorways where I stick stuff that doesn’t really belong in the room, but can’t manage to throw away or get rid of.

I’ve been packing a bunch of it around. my archives, assorted bits from many years – stretching back back to high school. The book closet – a great little closet with lots of built in shelves, and even a tiny window – had become a place where I open the door quickly, shove stuff in, then shut asap so it doesn’t fall on me. Started attacking it yesterday, which meant ploughing through files and piles.
With just a couple of nostalgia lulls, I managed to toss (into recycling) about two file boxes worth of paperwork. Now the closet door is open, and it doesn’t even look embarassing.
It’s not incredibly organized, but it is orderly. And much less dusty too.

is totally satisfying! In about 20 minutes we made it through two major piles together. Recycling was accomplished, reuse was accomplished (liberated a box for admin asst’s upcoming move), and delegation was accomplished.
Hooray. Team decluttering needs to be a weekly event in the office.

than the suggested 15 minutes daily. I get on a roll. But there’s also some fear that once the decluttering stops, there’s no telling when I’ll get up the energy to go at it again.
I just have to have faith that this decluttering program is going to stick. Filled a nice little box for goodwill today. (Running out of boxes actually, but won’t be deterred!)
