Two this week

The first was last Wednesday when I went to see KeyJay. It was okay. The music was good but the whole multimedia concept didn’t really come to life. Also the guest singer was Birgit Schuurman, a bit of a Dutch hype, and I really don’t see how she is any special. At all.
The second was last night in Rotterdam where my former boss, now my friend and mentor, was playing Indian classical music. I had never heard or seen him play before, even though we have known each other for ten years now. It was fascinating to see him play. The way he picked out the notes on the sitar, the way he and the tabla player interacted, those things. The music didn’t really get to me but that is because I know only a little bit about it so couldn’t really follow what was going on. Indian classical music is just not my cup of tea.

I went together with my brother. This band has been playing for over 25 and still have so much energy and it is great fun to go to their concerts. We have always danced to this music together, it is one of the few things we could find each other in.
This is a way bigger venue than we were tonight but you get an idea of the music. When this was played, the man next to me became so quiet and still, I felt so sorry for him. The lyrics mean “a man doesn’t know what he is missing until she is not there”.

Bought tickets to a Dutch band I used to enjoy with my brother. He’s seeing if he can come by rescheduling his work etc. That would be neat…

I’m not going anywhere this summer so I might be able to catch some concerts around here!
