which has syrup (and thus sugar) in it and, when strong, makes my heart go wheeee! but instead I had a large glass of fresh orange juice. This doesn’t mean I can’t have my frappucinos anymore (esp. in the States!) but it means that I’m thinking before ordering. And making a conscious choice. I think making conscious choices is a healthy thing to do.

Today in The 38 most common fiction writing mistakes (J.M. Bickham): “Nothing can erode your powers more than a negative attitude.” And so on to the good things we look! What did we do today? (As opposed to what have we failed to do?) What is there to like about our appearance? (As opposed to godsdamn girl you look friggin’ old!) What are we good at? (As opposed to what is another thing you are really failing at this time, again and again?) What do we have? (As opposed to what is missing.) Etc.
Gods, this is a hard one. But still a healthy choice. Or so I hear.
Water is good stuff. It tastes wonderful and it really works against thirst. It has no sugar, no weird additives, nothing. It is good, clean, simple water and my body likes it. The water coming out of the tap in Amsterdam is better quality than what you would get in bottles. (It also doesn’t have the chloride taste like in large parts of the world because filtration and all that is done differently and largely naturally through the dune forests nearby, as well as a man-made process of course.) Drinking tap water is also healthier for the rest of the planet since water bottles make up a large part of our waste. Water is a healthy choice.
