publish something in a respectable journal, magazine, or edited website

I had an article I submitted to an academic journal over a year ago finally get accepted. I had completely given up on it and put it out of my mind!

It is both exciting and a bit frightening to imagine that ideas I generated so long ago are now going to be made public. I feel like a lot of my positions have changed, but I guess that’s the nature of academia. Everything you write, in some way, is representative of a very specific time if your thinking.

However, I now know to keep this in mind when I read other people’s work!

Just sent out an article to a peer reviewed journal a week ago, now begins the long (probably 6 month) wait for a response. The worst part about the process is dreading that the idea will be taken. I cannot wait until more cost effective and time efficient forms of distribution get respected and actually start counting in tenure evaluation.
