I have to confess.
I LOVE macadamia nuts!
They are super unhealthy as nuts go but damn they’re delish!!
That’s right, I’m now cooking with orange pots & pans!
I also got an immersion stick blender that I’m itching to try!
Not exactly food or drink but prep of that ilk so it counts.
Made this last weekend and it was sooooo good!!
INGREDIENTS:
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup diced onion
2 1/2 cups peeled and diced potatoes
3 cups chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
1 3/4 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1/4 teaspoon dried dill weed
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
DIRECTIONS:
1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Cook onion in butter until softened. Stir in potatoes and broth, bring to a boil, then cover, reduce heat and simmer 15 to 20 minutes, until potatoes are tender.
2. Puree potato mixture in a blender or food processor or using an immersion blender; return to pot over medium heat. Stir in cream, cheese, dill, pepper, salt and cayenne. Bring to a low boil and cook, stirring, until thickened, 5 minutes.

We’re celebrating National Hispanic American Heritage Month so the foods will be fitting to the theme. Since I don’t have many recipes up my sleeve that fit I decided to bring a fruit plate instead. On the shopping list are bananas, kiwi, and some variety of oranges. Maybe I can snag some dried papaya too…? The display will be a challenge but I’ll use a plastic knife and do the best I can trying to replicate the picture.
We shall see…
I usually stick to IPA’s when it comes to beer however my sister brought Vanilla Porter’s to dinner yesterday so I thought “why not”?
The flavor was chocolate smooth with a creamy vanilla finish. I highly recommend picking up a six pack for the upcoming Fall nights…
PS ~ VANILLA PORTER MILKSHAKE:
4 scoops plain vanilla ice cream
1/2 bottle Breck Brew Vanilla Porter
DETAILS: Combine vanilla ice cream and Vanilla Porter together in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy.
