I manage to go one over without even realising lol

52 – A Married Man- Catherine Alliott
Really enjoyed this book but the last couple of pages are missing which is very annoying and upsetting but I think I can guess what they would say so its not a total loss.

53 – Welcome To Temptation- Jennifer Crusie
Another Crusie tale including the strong lead character and the four legged friend.

51 – Clever Maids: The Secret History of the Grimm Fairy Tales – Valerie Paradiz

OMG I’m only one book away from completing my goal! Maybe I should double it as it is only June after all.

49 - 50 3 years ago

49 – Making Memory Boxes: 35 Beautiful Projects – Anna Corba
Cute ideas but not exactly what I was looking for.

50 – Quick and Clever Cross Stitch: Eight Sampler Templates with Over 1,000 Pick-and-Mix Motifs – Helen Philipps
Great book full of fantastic motifs, will definately be one that I dip into again and again.

47 – 1001 beads – Irene Lassus & Marie-Anne Voituriez
Beautiful designs

48 – Wearing Vintage – Catherine Bardey
Great book with some wonderful old clothes in but unfortunately my local charity shop doesn’t seem to stock anything like these :)

Acting Up – Libby Purves
An interesting book that takes you through the trials of not only the uniformed ranks of our forces during their time in the second Gulf war but also the personal wars that those at home have to deal with on a daily basis.
I’ve not read any of Purves books before but it was a gentle and enjoyable read.

44 - 45 3 years ago

44 Making Garden Ornaments – Simona Hill
Some nice ideas pots but also some rather expensive ones just to make a stick!

45 Whirligigs & Weathervanes – David Schoonmaker & Bruce Woods
These things are so cool. Think we’ll have to have a go at trying to make one but it won’t be to the calibre that are in this book. Perhaps we’ll start with a wind sock :)

42 – Behind Closed Doors – Jenny Tomlin
Well I’m suitably emotional drained. Read this last night in one sitting whilst up most of the night with my wee one who is poorly. I hope that Jenny’s grit and determination to find herself a life away from the soul destroying parents she had helps those who too have suffered at the hands of those who are supposed to love and care for them.

43 – More to life than this – Carole Matthews
Woman feels stuck in a rutt but then finds sometimes the rutt just has to do.
Man doesn’t even realise he’s stuck in one until it’s pointed out to him.
Bit of a sad tale relating to the state of modern day marraiges, what really goes on behind closed doors isn’t always what you expect but is it so bad anyway?

Talking to Addison – Jenny Colgan
To be honest I found it all a bit too frustrating and missing something. But then that seems to be the premise of the whole book, people missing what is right in front of their faces.

40 – Swallowing Grandma – Kate Long
Can’t quite decide if i enjoyed this book or not, it was well written and its style illustrated the darkness of some of the plot but felt that nothing was ever really resolved within it. Also felt Long touched on topics and then ran away from them without ever giving them the attention they deserved.

37 – The Adventures of Abdi – Madonna

38 – Yakov and the Seven Thieves – Madonna

39 – Mr Peabody’s Apples – Madonna

Beautiful books with the most wondeful illustrations. I’ve often wondered what her books were actually about and now I’m so glad that I took the time to read them, not that they are long books at all. In fact I read them, my eldest wee one read them and then my mum read them and we al enjoyed them.
