be creative

I’ve been doing more and more things to salve my creative itch and I’m really enjoying myself. My Christmas gifts are getting made, I’m having fun playing with new mediums and today I made a bunch of little notebooks.
Get out there people draw, cut, glue, sculpt, sew, knit, dance, sing whatever it is you enjoy or just fancy trying out do it. Do it for yourself it’s fun and you get some quality time with yourself enjoying yourself. Remember how much fun it used to be when you were little cutting and gluing? It still is fun ;
)

Went to a craft shop that I’ve not been in for ages and they had some great stuff in there. Including some fab wool (didn’t buy any don’t have a wool shortage just now) sock yarn (I’d love to give that a try when I get past only being able to knit scarves) gorgeous buttons, paints, stamps and wooden handles for bags. I’ve not seen them anywhere before so I was very excited to know that I can get them fairly locally – now just need to get up the courage to switch my sewing machine and actually make a bag before I get ahead of myself and make one that I can put wooden handles on.

Popped into my local crafty shop today and discovered that they had some fabric paints. I was so excited I rushed home got my purse and went straight back. So want to do some stencilling on some shirts and with a vist down to the family coming up I can hopefully get some done as Xmas presents and save myself the crazing mailing costs :D

Spent the afternoon face painting at a friends daughter’s birthday party. Been a while since I was last asked to do any – they kids are getting a bit old for it all now. But today I did 2 butterflys, one sunset, one underwater scene complete with dolphins, one american flag and a disco princess :D

I’m so articulate lately aren’t I?
And I don’t know what that claw like thing holding the box is!

This year wee one will be 6 and most of her friends are having smaller parties which are about nails and make up etc. Well the issue is that my darling child wants a smaller party but unlike her mates doesn’t want it to be an all girl party ;) So I’m currently trying to come up with ideas of what they can do that is appealing to both boys and girls.
So far I’ve considered giving them all a glass painting project each. Maybe asking the parents of each child to give me an outline of each child’s hand which i can transfer to a mirror and then when they’re here they can paint it.
Or
A baking session – making some cakes and biscuits (cookies) and giving them icing etc and letting they decorate them themselves.
Or…
Any ideas?

another 16 tealights today :D Gonna have fun filling in the colour tomorrow. Looked after a friends wee one today and she took a shine to two of the one’s I did the other day so she took them home, one for her and her big sister ;)

a magazine box thing made out of a cereal box covered with lots and lots of fashion pics and words then a sprinkling of glitter. My eldest is in the middle of trying to sort out her bedroom (Again! – is it ever tidy through puberty?) so to try and help out with all her odds and sods lying around I made this box with the fashion theme as she fancies being a fashion designer and is always being crafty.
I also painted a weird sort of vegetable on a glass jar. Originally I was going to use it for my chutneys but as I sterilise the jars by boiling them the paint won’t last – so am going to decorate some extra jars for my craft corner for all those fiddly bits that need a home.

Edited – she loves the box and when I said I was going to originally do a binder for her she said she’d love one of those too! Plus when wee one saw what I was doing she rolled up her sleeves and informed me she wants to make one too. :D More cereal eating please household of mine lol

Painted 3 of them today and I think they look really cute. Two with wee red hearts and one with ‘You are the light of my life’ written round it. :D
