knit a jumper

there are 596 people who want to knit a sweater and only 16 of us who want to knit a jumper? :D I guess that’s because a jumper isn’t the same thing to Americans as it is to us lot :) Just thought I share that randomness with you all as I haven’t even cast on a single stitch of my jumper yet :(

My boss was giving some magazines to one of her friends today and I spotted a pattern on the front cover for a wee baby jumper. So I asked her if I could take the page out and I think I just might give this a go. Let’s see now how long the pattern languishes at the bottom of my handbag before I even read the instructions never mind pick up sticks ;)

Bought a new knitting magazine (The Art of Knitting) that has just come out over here. Usual suck them in with the cheap starting price thing. 99p for the magazine, a dvd showing you the techniques of casting on etc, a pair of metal 4.5mm needles and 2 small balls of wool.
Anyway in this mag there is a pattern for a wraparound cardigan (that’d count as a jumper no?) So if I can work out the instructions I may just give this a go.

I have moved on from scarves. Thank goodness – how many scarves can I knit in one year? lol
I am currently knitting my second pair of fingerless mittens :D Ok so they’re not fancy and probably take less time than a scarf but I think it’s movement in the right direction at least ;)

over lunch. She invited me over and made me a gorgeous lunch. Anyway we got onto knitting as she had her daughters snood on the side, made from the wool she’d seen me using in my copious scarf making. She told me she was working away on a cable knit jumper over which I got very excited when she told me that she would help me learn how to knit a jumper :D So this goal just may get done within the next 6 months of so lol
