I went in to see the lawyer, gave her the names of my heirs, my financial account information, and the groups (Planned Parenthood & NOW) that would get my estate if I end up having no heirs. She gave me a gold star for being well prepared, having great organizations to donate the estate to, and even for my doctor (whom we both have a crush on).

I have an appointment with an attorney to put together the physician’s directive. Good timing as I was almost forced off the road by big rig on Donner Summit yesterday. Fortunately I managed to not get hit and to not crash, but it was scary enough to remind me that I can’t keep putting this off.
Just found this website for generating free legal documents, http://www.legaldocs.com. So I’ll have a living will for both California and Nevada. It’s interesting, but California’s legal form allows you to designate a physician and if you want to donate your organs, whereas Nevada is short and sweet. So I need to get both of them printed out, signed/witnessed and filed with the physicians I have in each state.
It’s kind of odd going through the worksheet because there’s not much in terms of material possessions that I think is worth passing on to my friend or relatives.
Okay now that I’m certified in CPR, it’s on to even more morbid stuff, my will! Gotta get that set up seeing as how I’ll need to leave my estate to my 50 dogs when I finally pass on after a long career as a crazy spinster.
I think I need to figure out all of my different accounts for finances and life insurance, tally that up and then contact the will attorney I took the class from last Fall. Probably get a DNR for both states I spend time in.
