Play the saxophone more often

Played tenor once and alto once this week. It felt great!

It felt so good to practice tonight!

I’m testing new horns and mouthpieces. Fun, fun fun!

I played live in public this weekend. Hooray!

My saxophone returned from the sax doctor in great condition and I played three days this week!

I have a wedding gig in September which will be good motivation to practice! Also, the saxophone doctor gave her a physical and did some work on him while I was on vacation. He should be in tip top playing condition.

I tested mouthpieces on both alto and tenor this week. I am getting a Rousseau classical alto mouthpiece. It is amazingly dark…. much darker than a C*, which is surprising to me! I didn’t find anything for tenor yet but I still am working on it.

I have used the same mouthpiece/reed/ligature setup for the past 17 years. However, lately I have suspected that I need a jazz setup that requires less air. I got a box of Rico Jazz Select Reeds in 3Soft. They were not hard enough for me, so I need to look for something else.

I have been practicing much more lately to prepare for a solo classical performance. I haven’t performed a classical solo in at least six years so I am a bit nervous. (I also am embarrassed that it has been that long!)
