Maintain a healthy weight

Woah! 7 months ago

I weighed myself for the first time in some time today and was SHOCKED that I currently weigh 151 pounds.

I remember a time not too long ago when I was concerned about going over 130.

I downloaded a new iPhone app to track my calories, and I’m planning to start a running program next week.

Gym 9 months ago

Went to the gym today and felt incredibly uncomfortable. Saw a very skinny friend there and felt embarrassed to run into her in my too-tight yoga pants and sports bra. She said she hated to come in on the evenings because it felt like everyone was looking at her. Ha! Exactly what I was feeling.

Lifted weights with the boys which was also embarrassing, as they were doing 50+ pounds and I was curling the bar.

Planning on going tomorrow. Friend suggested a less busy time of day, so I’m going to try for it.

Changing my calorie goal 10 months ago

I’ve been logging my calories on The Daily Plate for almost two weeks and have really struggled to stay on target.

Today I reconsidered my calorie goal. It was set for 1.5 pound of weight loss a week, which worked out to about 1300 calories a day.

I set it to 1 pound of weight loss a week, which gives me 200 more calories to work with. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but that works out to two snacks in a day if I plan it right.

I’m hoping this will also help me get over my sense of defeat.

Christmas Dinner 11 months ago

I was really proud of myself tonight. When filling my plate for dinner, I was very careful to keep to my nutritionist’s guidelines: Half a plate of vegetables, a quarter of protein, and a quarter of starch. I ate slowly and was full from only one serving.

This is really good, because if I can stick to the plan in my grandmother’s house, I can stick to it anywhere!

Professional Help 12 months ago

I made an appointment with a really great nutrition clinic here for next week.

Totaling the damage from Italy. 12 months ago

Turns out I only gained 5 to 7 pounds on my three month study abroad trip.

I’m currently 145.8 pounds, which is 8 pounds more than I weighed in January, when I started my weight loss program.

I’ve lost some ground, but I don’t feel like it’s anything I can’t overcome.

A new commitment. 13 months ago

I’ve adopted this goal because my previous goals (“Lose 10 pounds,” “Lose 20 pounds”) are too concrete.

I’m not really sure how much I weigh right now, as I’ve been living in Italy, land of wine and pasta, without a scale, for three months. I’d hardly classify my weight as healthy, however.

Because it’s the holidays and I haven’t been home in a while, I’m not going to stress about this until I go back to school, but I’m adding this goal to my list while it’s fresh on my mind.
