I fought the good fight... 23 months ago

...but it didn’t really work out so well.

Too much required reading for school. This just isn’t a good goal for an English/creative writing major.

020. The Zoo Story & The Sandbox (Edward Albee) 2 years ago

Two very interesting short plays. I preferred Zoo Story; Sandbox was a little absurd for my taste, although it has a beautiful ending.

019. Our Town (Thornton Wilder) 2 years ago

Sweet little play about middle America and how easy it is to overlook the beauty in everyday life.

018. The Lovely Bones (Alice Sebold) 2 years ago

Rather sicky-sweet, but fittingly so.

Time's running out. 2 years ago

I’m worried about this! There’s so much reading for class and so little time to read for pleasure.

I have 33 books to go and it’s already the middle of September. :[

017. All I Did Was Ask (Terry Gross) 2 years ago

Conversations with all kinds of artists about craft. Eye-opening.

It’s interesting to see how art is pretty much the same, no matter what kind you’re making.

016. Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim (David Sedaris) 2 years ago

A re-read.

Light and fluffy. As all good satirical prose should be.

015. It's Called a Break-Up Because It's Broken (Greg & Amiira Behrendt) 2 years ago

I’m not usually into audiobooks, but the idea of one of my favorite stand-up comedians nursing me through my break-up was appealing, even if he is doing it with his gorgeous record-executive wife.

They’re funny. They anticipate your protests and have rebuttals for them. They spend an hour commiserating with you, and thanks to the “Repeat All” feature on iPods, they’ll spend even longer than that if needed.

A+. Seriously.

014. Memoirs of a Geisha (Arthur Golden) 2 years ago

Beautiful prose. Questionable morals. (Of the author, not the characters.)

013. Waiting for Trains (Molli Liedel) 2 years ago

Oh, my.

Have you ever finished a book, closed it, and been so awed by its contents that you set it down very carefully, almost reverently?

This is the sort of poetry I want to write.
