So I’ve been up to northern california a few times already. The most recent being this new years. It was great. Its just the atmosphere up there. Pretty everyone can be themselves if they aren’t causing harm to anyone else and people don’t mind. I traveled all around the bay area. Pretty much everything in east bay is ghetto-ish, Berkeley is ok in my opinion. The cost of living is really expensive, but I was born and raised in San Diego right by the beach in Point Loma so its about like that. Right now i’m living in Flagstaff, Arizona right at the base of a set of mountains called the San Francisco Peaks. I plan to take a good picture of this mountain and donate it to a library in San Francisco, people will wonder “San Francisco Peaks, Where is that”?
Anyway its a chill town, I really like San Francisco but I notice its a chill feel pretty much all the way from Santa Cruz to San Francisco, something about being on the San Francisco peninsula has a distinctive energy or appeal to it, can’t quite figure it out but its really relaxing. I enjoy that same feeling in the redwood forests of the Santa Cruz mountains just south of there. There also this awesome spot right above Haight street called Buena Vista Park. When I went there it was after a fresh rain so nobody was messin around in the bushes (as i’ve been told by locals people get busy in there) so I was able to grab some great night shots. If you want to see these night shots you can go on my website www.tylerfinvold.com > gallery > Page 2 (Pacific Coast) > San Francisco.
Anyways i’m practically writing an essay on this. Basically to me its really a cool place. It just cracks me up why my dad despises the place and I love it. I had a taste for the place and the sights and things to do are endless and the public transit is just phenomenal like the best on the west coast. A lot of free spirited good people up there, there are some crazy radicals, but steer clear of them and you’re good. They’re everywhere to some degree but they’re less harmless than the radicals you’d see in our government lol ;P
