I’ve been very slowly replacing my videotaped movies with DVD’s. I’ve been watching for this one for a long time, but every time I saw it for a reasonable price, it was fullscreen rather than widescreen and I hate fullscreen movies. I finally found a widescreen copy a few months ago so I gave this tape to my ex.

You can see from the photo how threadbare these old dishtowels were! That’s not surprising, since they belonged to my first ex (she was into strawberries)- meaning that they were close to 30 years old. I finally got tired of trying to use them and spent a few dollars on a couple new ones. These were probably a cotton/polyester blend, but in case they were pure cotton I buried them at the edge of the brushpile in my backyard (where the soil stays moister and they would decompose faster).
This was kind of an interesting little magnet in the shape of a Tupperware lid (I still have a couple pieces of this Tupperware that are many years old!), but the magnet on the back was pretty crappy and I couldn’t use it to hold anything to the fridge. I decided I could live without it :o and donated it to the thrift store.
As you may be able to tell from this photo, my old aluminum colander needed to be retired years ago- it was dented up, both handles were missing, and the feet were bent and broken. The problem was that I couldn’t find another that I liked- everything recent seems to have holes that are too big or doesn’t have enough holes to drain well. When Mom died a couple years ago the only thing that I asked for from her kitchen was her old colander, which is similar to this one but better-made.
I donated this one to the scrap metal yard for recycling.
This was an old dryer vent hood left in the mud room when I bought my house. The dryer isn’t really set up to use this so I don’t need it. I would have donated it to the Habitat for Humanity resale store, but it was pretty bent up. Instead I just donated it to a local scrap metal yard.
Another book I sent to my best friend. I thought that a book about the gauchos would be interesting- I was wrong :P But the subject is in my friend’s area of study so he wanted to take a look at it.
I picked up a used copy of this book last summer because I had read something Spyrunner had written about being a fan of Michael Crichton. This was one of Crichton’s first novels, written under a pseudonym while he was still a medical student. It won the Edgar award in 1969 for the best mystery novel of the year. I actually think that it is far from his best work but as a big fan of his it’s an interesting book to read to see how he developed as a writer in later years.
It turned out that Spy had already read the book and didn’t need the copy, but my best friend is also a Crichton fan and he was glad to take it off my hands :)
I should have watched this one with the sound off ;) Penelope Cruz was gorgeous in it but the story was incredibly stupid and boring. The only way I’m ever going to watch this again is if Penelope herself brings it over ;) so I gave this tape to my ex.
These were my son’s, of course. Judging from the size he was pretty young, so they’re probably close to 20 years old. I gave them back to him for his daughter to use. Knowing him, though, he will probably stash them away somewhere. Who knows, they may be collector’s items by now ;)
I got this at some stupid class we had to attend at work :P I rarely drink hot beverages, and when I’m drinking water in the car I just use a bike water bottle. I gave this to my ex- she’s a coffee drinker.
