"Missing You," by John Waite, lyrics by M. Leonard, C. Sandford, & J. Waite 2 years ago

Maybe if I keep telling myself this, I’ll come to believe it.

Yeah, right.

Missing You

Everytime I think of you
I always catch my breath
And I’m still standing here
And you’re miles away
And I’m wonderin’ why you left
And there’s a storm that’s raging
Through my frozen heart tonight

I hear your name in certain circles
And it always makes me smile
I spend my time thinkin’ about you
And it’s almost driving me wild
And there’s a heart that’s breaking
Down this long distance line tonight

I ain’t missing you at all
(Missing you)
Since you’ve been gone away
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
I ain’t missing you
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
No matter what my friends say
(Missing you)
(Missing you)

There’s a message in the wire
And I’m sending you this signal tonight
You don’t know how desperate I’ve become
And it looks like I’m losing this fight
In your world I have no meaning
Though I’m trying hard to understand
And it’s my heart that’s breaking
Down this long distance line tonight

I ain’t missing you at all
(Missing you)
Since you’ve been gone away
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
I ain’t missing you
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
No matter what my friends say
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
(I’m missing you)

And there’s a message that I’m sending out
Like a telegraph to your soul
And if I can’t bridge this distance
Stop this heartbreak overload

I ain’t missing you at all
(Missing you)
Since you’ve been gone away
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
I ain’t missing you
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
No matter what my friends say
(Missing you)
(I’m missing you)

I ain’t missing you
(Missing you)
I ain’t missing you
(Missing you)
I can lie to myself

And there’s a storm that’s raging
Through my frozen heart tonight

I ain’t missing you at all
(Missing you)
Since you’ve been gone away
(Missing you)
I ain’t missing you
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
No matter what my friends say
(Missing you)
(I’m missing you)

I ain’t missing you
(Missing you)
I ain’t missing you at all
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
I ain’t missing you
(Missing you)
(Missing you)
No matter what my friends say
(Missing you)
(I’m missing you)
I ain’t missing you
I ain’t missing you
I can lie to myself
Ain’t missing you
I ain’t missing you
I ain’t missing you
I ain’t missing you
I ain’t missing you
I ain’t missing you
Ain’t missing you, oh no
No matter what my friends might say
I ain’t missing you…

"Too Much Love," by Patty Smyth, lyrics by M. Lunn & S. Lorber 2 years ago

A warning for myself.

I still think I’m right, though.

Too Much Love

Baby listen you gotta do
What you believe
But where’s it written you have
To get down on your knees
And give away your heart and soul

Now you believe it that’s how love’s
Supposed to be
Can’t you feel it drag you down
From underneath
You’re drowning but you won’t let go

Someday you’re gonna give up
More than your heart can take
It’s too bad you gotta find out
After it’s just too late
There’s such a thing as too much love

You’re hanging on
Dancing in the driving rain
You’re blacking out the part that makes you feel the pain
Pretending that you just don’t know

Someday you’re gonna give up
More than your heart can take
It’s too bad you gotta find out
After it’s just too late
There’s such a thing as too much love

You think my love
Will cover up your tracks
But you blind yourself
To the cold hard facts
You’re in a turn down
Feel so much but there’s no way out
Cause your sweet dreams turning to a time bomb now
You’re burning but you won’t let go

On the wire holding on
Use you up until the till is gone
Keep on wondering
I say now why does love have to be so sad
Cause you keep throwing good love
After bad

Someday you’re gonna give up
More than your heart can take
It’s too bad you gotta find out
After it’s just too late
There’s such a thing as too much love baby

Someday you’re gonna give up
More than your heart can take
It’s too bad you gotta find out
After it’s just too late
There’s such a thing as too much love

"Happily Ever After (Now And Then)," by Jimmy Buffett, lyrics by Jimmy Buffett 2 years ago

Happily Ever After (Now And Then)

I’ve been a stand-in, a stunt man
I’ve takin’ some falls
Troubles… I’ve had my share
But one has to learn how to run before walkin’
‘Round breathin’ that million air

Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure
When yours, it could have been

Some people never find it
Some… only pretend, but me:
I just want to live happily ever after every now and then

I’ve been in vans and in bands
On and through stages
One thing I can conclude
One has to learn havin’ fun is just smilin’ through
Those Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes

Take it from me cuz I’ve found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure
When yours, it could have been

Some people never find it
Some… only pretend, but me:
I just want to live happily ever after every now and then

Some people never find it
Some… only pretend, but me, hell:
I just want to live happily ever after every now and then

"I Honestly Love You," by Olivia Newton-John, lyrics by P. Allen & J. Barry 2 years ago

This is my all-time favorite love song :)

For Surly, of course.

You knew that this one was coming eventually.

I Honestly Love You

Maybe I hang around here
A little more than I should
We both know I got somewhere else to go
But I got something to tell you
That I never thought I would
But I believe you really ought to know

I love you
I honestly love you

You don’t have to answer
I see it in your eyes
Maybe it was better left unsaid
But this is pure and simple
And you should realize
That it’s coming from my heart and not my head

I love you
I honestly love you

I’m not trying to make you feel uncomfortable
I’m not trying to make you anything at all
But this feeling doesn’t come along everyday
And you shouldn’t blow the chance
When you’ve got the chance to say

I love you
I honestly love you

If we both were born
In another place and time
This moment might be ending in a kiss
But there you are with yours
And here I am with mine
So I guess we’ll just be leaving it at this

I love you
I honestly love you
I honestly love you

"I Need," by Meredith Brooks, lyrics by Meredith Brooks 2 years ago

In case you couldn’t tell, I love this album :) This is the third song from it that I posted lyrics for, and there was another song that I sent to an individual. I think that this will be the last ;)

While I’ve wanted to post these for a while, this thread reminded me of it. Because of that, this one is for Surly- may you receive all that you need and at least some of what you want! :)

This seems like a possibility for a goal- anyone want to try it? I think that I’ve had or done most of these, but some are kind of vague.

The Mercedes might be a bit tough ;)

I Need

I need some good luck; I need a best friend
I need a rough dog; I need a mountain
I need some new clothes, a TV, a cause
A trip to Nirvana, the thrill of applause
I need a wet kiss, I need to confess
I need a vision, religion
The right to be silent, and then to be heard
A week on an island, a diet that works

I need a dose of the Bible
Another course in survival
Just talkin’ ‘bout the essentials
It makes me feel alive

That’s all I need, see how easy I am to please
That’s all I need, see how easy I am

I need some money, more money, and more time
A strong cup of coffee, a haircut, a lifeline
A stranger to trust me, my father to love me
Seattle, a sunburn, and lots of Todd Rundgren
I need a guitar, to do it on all fours
Cool friends, weekends, and someone to die for

When I’m alone on my couch, nothing can settle me down
I’m adding on to my list, it makes me feel alive

That’s all I need, see how easy I am to please
That’s all I need, see how easy I am

I need a Guru, I need to chill
I need a Mercedes 280SL
Yeah, that’ll fix it, I’ll be complete
I need a, I need a, I need a

That’s all I need, see how easy I am to please
That’s all I need, maybe then I will be complete
That’s all I need, I’m not asking for everything
That’s all I need, see how easy I am, I am

"Unwritten," by Natasha Bedingfield, lyrics by Natasha Bedingfield 2 years ago

I know, they overplayed this song like crazy ;) But I’ve been thinking about the lyrics for several months and how they reminded me of Mandy, especially this goal and this goal.

It’s a new start to your life, Mandy. You have the whole world ahead of you and you can do anything that you want. You’ll do great :) I have a lot of confidence in you.

I love you, Mandy. (((HUGS)))

Unwritten

I am unwritten, can’t read my mind, I’m undefined
I’m just beginning, the pen’s in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We’ve been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can’t live that way

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins…

"Moth to a Flame," by Olivia Newton-John, lyrics by S. Kipner & P. Bliss 2 years ago

Dedicated to…

Ah, hell, you know who it’s for ;)

Moth to a Flame

Here again drawn like a moth to a flame
An invisible force pulling me close to you
I can’t break free
There’s some kind of hold over me
Like a magnet, you attract me like steel

I’m a kamikaze pilot, it’s a one-way flight
Getting to you is getting to me
Must be lack of oxygen
I’m a do or die fanatic, no rationale
Cause anyone else could tell
don’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell

Moth to a flame
A fatal attraction
I’m flying too close to the sun
Sooner or later, you’re gonna get burned
Moth to a flame
A lethal reaction
I’m loving you under the gun
It’s just a matter of time before I get…

Over my head in your quicksand bed
The more I struggle the more I’m sucked in
Here again drawn like a moth to a flame
An invisible force pulling me close to you

I’m a kamikaze pilot, it’s a one-way flight
Getting to you is getting to me
Must be lack of oxygen
I’m a do or die fanatic, no rationale
Cause anyone else could tell
don’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell…

"Poems, and Prayers, and Promises," by John Denver, lyrics by John Denver 2 years ago

When John Denver died in an experimental plane crash several years ago, I had mixed feelings. On the one hand, his music is what had called to me to move to Colorado. On the other hand, what I read about in the papers were were his problems- the infidelities, the DUI’s. I found it difficult to support him with the problems that he appparently had. But when he died, I decided to attend his memorial service in Aspen, Colorado- a several-hour drive away. There I heard many people speak of how he had touched their lives and made them better. I realized that the good that he did far outweighed the bad. After the service, I drove to the Maroon Bells near Aspen- one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring places in Colorado. I sat there and looked at the incredible mountains and thought about what his music had meant to me. Because it was his music that will live on, not his failings as a man

This is the song that made me cry at the memorial service- a song about the future.

For all of my 43er friends- may we have many opportunities to talk about
"Poems, and Prayers, and Promises" in the years to come. Thanks especially
to Surly and Mandy- two of the closest friends that I've ever had in my
life. I love you both- much more than you know.

Poems, Prayers And Promises

I’ve been lately thinking about my life’s time, all the things I’ve done and how it’s been. And I can’t help believing in my own mind, I know I’m gonna hate to see it end. I’ve seen a lot of sunshine, slept out in the rain, spent a night or two all on my own. I’ve known my lady’s pleasures, had myself some friends, spent a time or two in my own home.

I have to say it now, it’s been good life all in all, it’s really fine to have a chance to hang around. And lie there by the fire and watch the evening tire while all my friends and my old lady sit and pass a pipe around.

And talk of poems and prayers and promises and things that we believe in. How sweet it is to love someone, how right it is to care. How long it’s been since yesterday, what about tomorrow and what about our dreams and all the memories we share?

Days they pass so quickly now, the nights are seldom long. Time around me whispers when it’s cold. The changes somehow frighten me, still I have to smile. It turns me on to think of growing old. For though my life’s been good to me there’s still so much to do.So many things my mind has never known.I’d like to raise a family, I’d like to sail away, and dance across the mountains on the moon.

"Merry Christmas Darling," by the Carpenters, lyrics by F. Pooler & R. Carpenter 2 years ago

For B- Merry Christmas, darling :)

I have a radio station playing Christmas music on tonight- this song came on while I was working on this entry. Another coincidence?

Merry Christmas, Darling

Greeting cards have all been sent
The Christmas rush is through
But I still have one wish to make
A special one for you

Merry Christmas, darling
We’re apart, that’s true
But I can dream
And in my dreams
I’m Christmasing with you

Holidays are joyful
There’s always something new
But every day’s a holiday
When I’m near to you

The lights on my tree
I wish you could see
I wish it every day
The logs on the fire
Fill me with desire
To see you and to say

That I wish you Merry Christmas
Happy New Year too
I’ve just one wish
On this Christmas Eve
I wish I were with you

I wish I were with you

Merry Christmas, darling
