The best thing I could have done for myself was join a men’s small group a few months ago. Every Wednesday we meet in the morning for 1.5 hours and read a chapter together with questions and discussion and then share some joys and concerns to pray about. It’s been great for me. I feel as if I’m actually being a more responsible husband and father to my family because I am stepping up more and living out who God has me to be…. a man after His heart.

My wife and I read from Luke Chapter 1 and 2 on Christmas night which is the Birth of Jesus. It was awesome. God spoke to Mary through one of His angels and told her not to fear but the Holy Spirit was going to come upon her and she would conceive a baby. She was in shock and didn’t understand since she was a virgin but said to God that she would follow His plan.
The angel also spoke to Joseph by the way and he was blown away too and didn’t know what to do. God rested his heart though and Joseph married her still and they went down to Bethlehem and had baby Jesus. Angels appeared to Shepherds in the fields and told them that the Saviour was going to be born. By the way, they had to have the baby in manger where animals lived.
- What a humble beginning to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. People lot’s of times think that royalty has to be born with a silver spoon in his/her mouth. But that’s the awesome thing about God. He sets up the humble and the unexpected and moves away from the proud and manipulative.
There is power in humility. I have to never forget that. True, honest humility goes a long way. Not fake humility but honest humility. Amen baby Jesus!!!
I’m frustrated right now so I opened the Word to: Psalm 8 and just started reading it for no reason. Here is what it says:
O Lord, our Lord. How majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set y our glory above the heavens. From lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?
You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.
You made him ruler over the works of your hands, you put everything under his feet: all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
God is amazing isn’t He? He did place the moon with the stars and does love us no matter what we have done…thanks for that!
Today I read the parable of the prodigal son and it was such the reminder that God loves us all even when we turn out backs on Him and do our own thing for a while. The story is that a man’s youngest son askes for his half of the inheritance and decides to leave home only to blow all of it on a wild lifestyle.
After a while he comes to his senses and goes back home to ask his father for a job as at least a servant in his house. Well, the father saw the son way off walking toward the house and ran out there to meet him. He hugged him and kissed him and threw a party for him. The other son was very mad at the dad because he himself had always honored the father. The brother refused to attend the party.
The dad went outside and explained to the older brother that the younger brother was dead and is alive again…he was blind and now can see and THAT’S reason to celebrate.
It is so true, we are blind or dead at times in life and then we come alive again or regain our site and come back to God. That is reason for Him to celebrate. He loves us very much!
pretty freakin cool!
I let life get in the way of reading God’s love letters to me. He has so many wonderful things to tell me. One thing He says in the Bible is this: For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I have to remember that just because I don’t always read his love letters doesn’t mean He doesn’t love me. However, why wouldn’t I want to read them? That’s my goal!!!
