Tuesday was day 14 but I extended my goal to make today my last day. I ate out a lot more than expected and/or usual during the last two weeks. Last night I went to dinner at a Burmese place with my mom and Monday night to a Japanese place with a friend. Stopped by a Chinese market after dinner last night to pick up a few things for home. No other spending that I recall this week.
I’m proud that I was able to accomplish this goal, but I am looking foward to a Target adventure this weekend. That and Albertson’s—I want to start baking but I have no supplies to start and I can’t afford the high priced specialty stores to stock up.
I look foward to maintaining this goal to some degree… with reminders to myself to stay practical.

thursday- bought nothing.
friday- new cookbook, same indy shop as last week.
saturday- searched nearby stores for milk (mandatory for tea), ended up having to drive to find some (although albertson’s is on the corner… this was a hassle). dinner at a local vietnamese place.
sunday- bagels for breakfast (easily avoided noah’s… the shop closest to me is not a chain).
monday- had to pick up the rest of my prescription at walgreen’s. not happy about this, but what can i do?

The “bug bite” I had turned out to be poison oak and my doctor is in Fairfield where my parents live. San Francisco has dozens of local pharmacies but Fairfield has zero. Since I had to have my prescription filled so I don’t go crazy itching, I’ll add an extra day to my goal.
Tuesday I went to a play with a friend. No cheating there. Lunch and dinner were at my two favorite local places in Fairfield and I avoided temptation to go shopping at Target or Barne’s and Noble (it is so much easier in FF than SF) by buying books at a local thift store.

i had some cream at home for my bug bite, so no need for the drug store (although there is one fairly close to my home, there is not one by my work that i know of). i spent yesterday evening finishing the davinci code- no need to buy anything at all.

friday night i went to a local indian place with some friends. saturday & sunday were a bit tougher, but overall no problem. i promised my bf that i’d take him to the movies, but crap was showing at most of the local theaters. luckily one independent was showing munich and we’d planned to see that weeks ago so that worked out well. i bought bread for our brie for lunch at my nearby health food store and for dinner we ended up at a fabulous pizza place we’ve been meaning to try. drinks afterwords were of course at two independent bars. sunday i went with him to buy his sister a forever 21 gift certificate for her birthday and the nearby target store was beckoning me, but i resisted. later i needed vegetable broth for soup but the liquor store and russian market in my neighborhood didn’t have any. so i wound up using some onion base i had in my cubbard. today i need to find a drug store because i have an itchy bug bite.

i went to lunch with my mom and sister and then to dinner with my mom. both places were independent – i didn’t pay for either meal, but i didn’t participate in spending money on anything else.
no purchases yet today either, though i would like to get listerine if i can find a place to buy it. i’ve been planning to get a new cookbook so i’m doing that today, but i was going to get it from an independent bookstore anyhow.

i went shopping at albertson’s last night, so i’ll start today. i live in san francisco so it should be easy-ish (my boyfriend lives in a suburb and there are nothing but chains). walgreens will be my biggest challenge, it is the only place to get things downtown, around my work.
