Really liked this, which surprises me somewhat.
Not the best film so far, but the acting and director choices were good. I liked the script as well (can I call it a script? It’s the plot line really, I suppose).

In my opinion only worth it for the songs. Loved the three big scenes, especially Food glorious food. Oliver, Nancy and Fagin were great as well. Loved the choreography.
This is one of those films that the vast majority of people seem to have seen – even my mum has!
But the difference between this and many other “classic” films is that this one wasn’t a let down when I finally saw it. Russell Crowe is awesome, especially in the younger bits. Really touching. I also felt that Nash’s wife (Jennifer Connelly) was played expertly.
One of the best films I’ve seen in a while – I look forward to watching it again.
I saw the opening titles of this film at school when we doing media studies coursework, and so thought this would be a good film to watch early on.
I really enjoyed this film even though I wasn’t sure I would, as this is so different to most films that I choose to watch. The captions throughout were really effective and the factual side of it really captured my mind.
The final, closing scenes, from the end of the war onwards were outstanding. They brought such raw emotion up that it was impossible not to be touched. The directing was superb throughout and this is completely worth watching purely for those closing, humbling moments. The entire film was brilliant.
The wheels are officially in motion.
I went down to my local library, list in hand, and looked round the [small] collection of films they had. I ended up renting “Shindler’s list” from 1993 and “A beautiful mind” from 2003. They had about five more that I saw so I will work my way through them before worrying how to find the others!
The good thing about my library is that the rental is only for one week, meaning that I can’t drag out watching them for very long.
Wish me luck, I’m really excited!
P.s. I worked out that I’ve seen 7.5% of the list before the start of this. [That’s 6 films by the way]
