I've finally lost three!! 4 weeks ago

I’ve lost three kilos! And I hate to say it, but I think it is all drug-induced. Ever since I started taking codeine for a very bad cough, my cravings have disappeared, and I can say “no” to the grocery run in the afternoon. I hope I can alter my body chemistry so I keep craving-free even after my cold is gone.

Well, my physical happened this week 7 months ago

And somehow I gained five kilo this year! How the heck did that happen? My clothes weren’t even tight . . . .

Actually, it was more than five kilos; I was very good the 10 days before the physical, and lost at least 2 kilos. Possibly 3, what with clothing and everything.

Soooo, maybe the next 5 can fall off over the next 20 days? LOL! I can hope!

I’m going to try and replace ice cream with frozen fruit.

New resolutions 14 months ago

I have no idea if the diet is working; haven’t stepped on a scale. But, I seriously resolve to stop snacking in the car, and treat myself with a nice yogurt and a good dollop of jam (and some nuts) when I get home.

I’m already tempted to cheat . . . maybe this isn’t the best resolution.

Back to Atkins? 15 months ago

I did an Atkins-like diet for three months many years ago, and it was effective. But . . . I just got so tired of all the restrictions!! Sometimes, people want a piece of cake or a cup of cocoa.

However, since then, I’ve put on 10 kg. And I recently read an article in Mother Earth News saying that dietary thinking about carbs and fat have been wrong since the 1970s, and the protein diet is actually an old approach.

It makes a lot of sense, and it has worked for me in the past, so I think I need to give it a try again. I’ll be careful to monitor my health, and maybe even do a food diary so I can keep track better.

OK, so I’ll try and be careful this week, and eat up my granola and things, then start next Saturday. I’ll be travelling, so it’ll be tough, but maybe I can do a modified plan and ease into the real thing Monday the 13th.

I’ll have to figure out my lunches—I guess salads with some nice meat, instead of sandwiches. That would work.

I can start that this week, too.

So, this weekend, must transplant lettuce to planters so I have a good supply to put in the greenhouse for winter.

OK, it’s a plan (-:.

Well, progress . . . maybe 15 months ago

I lost a half kilo this month, probably. Maybe it was all water, but if I can keep the water off, and lose another half kilo next month, I’ll be better off. Although, I would like to lose 2 kg. by Halloween.

How am I going to do this?
*Keep snacking in the car restricted to fruit.
*Keep yogurt in the fridge so I can have some granola and yogurt and dried fruit when I get home.
*No eating after 8 p.m. —and try to make that 7 p.m. on most days. (That means moving supper up to 6 p.m.)
*5 minutes of stretching in the morning, a stroll and stretch at lunch, and a stroll and stretch when we head over to the new house (possibly add biking this month?)

I’m a ravenous monster today, so I’m not sure how it will go today. But maybe I need to learn to take it one day at a time.

I read an interesting article about how if you walk in faith, it’s a good way to lose weight. (-: I’ve recently converted to atheism, but I wonder if I could fool my body into believing? Religion seems to be an evolutionary tool that’s been overall pretty good for the human race . . . .

Have not had the courage to get on the scale 15 months ago

I think I’m doing OK - I mean I think I haven’t gained any weight - but I don’t think I’ve lost any either. Not great for exercise this week, and I have Snacked.

OK 16 months ago

Must lose 13 kg. A reasonable deadline would be April 1, wouldn’t it?

How am I going to do this? This month, I’ll try and make little changes.

No eating in the car. Have a healthy yogurt and serving of fruit waiting for me at home for after work. Or maybe try bean-sweets. They are still loaded with sugar, but at least they have some protein.

And work on the menus.

Also, try and get 10 minutes of exercise after work—lawn mowing or weeding if the weather is fine (probably stretch to 30 to 60 minutes), but yoga, dancing or stationary cycle would work, too.

Yoshi! Let’s go!

Which means I must get on a scale tomorrow 16 months ago

I’d like to lose some weight, and getting down to 100 kg. would be more or less 10 percent of my body weight. Then I could work on the next step of losing even more.

Losing weight seems like a pretty common goal. I wonder how many here have had success with it.
