I keep a folder of pictures I’ve saved whilst trawling the internet. Cute pieces of furniture, photos from people’s house tours and all sorts of things. I’m going through the images (nearly 500) and deleting all the ones that no longer hold meaning and delight for me. Then I plan to print them all out and do a little sticking and pasting in “MY DREAM HOME” binder.

I’ve started working on my binder. Today I went through three IKEA catalogues (07.08.09) and a random house magazine pulling out all the pictures I like. I’ll have to print off all the images I have on my computer of things I like and get this baby rolling. Once I have my external cd drive (computer doesn’t have one) then I can use the house design program my dad bought me for Christmas.
Instead of a grand upstairs and downstairs fattened terrace house I was thinking maybe a cutesy brick house with lots of little rooms and corridors and things inside like a maze but not overly so with a little rooftop terrace / conservatory? Eliminates stairs which is great considering I dislike them AND my knees are already plotting mutiny.
In study hall while I was a) bored and b) waiting for my dad to come and collect me from school early I was doodling in my notebook. I drew a very sketchy plan for my squashy tall house. I like it. It’s very rough at the moment but hey, it is a starting point – right?
I’m really lagging behind on this here goal.
I must work on it some more!
I’m still thinking about how I want it panned out. I figured I want it to be thin and tallish (2storeys) possibly with a bit of roof I can have a rooftop garden on! Oh that would be darling. I like small living spaces but not to the point where my claustrophobia starts acting up! (Obviously) Not exactly how many bedrooms yet, I’m guessing one and a guest, oh and a sleepout. I love sleepouts. My grandmother’s house has one and I loved my stay in that room! smiles I’ve been looking at a few blogs about decorating and all sorts of things I really like this goal and have always wanted to own my own home. Naturally being the control freak I am, I’d have to design it too! Haha.
ever since i was little i’ve always wanted a house of my own. the other day i bought a MY DREAM HOME binder and i plan to fill it with snaps and paint swatches. i can see most of it inside my mind already. i want my own space inspired by the things i love most – disney films, childhood and fairytales. of course, one cannot live alone in such a space so spaces given to the partner and any possible children will need to be factored in. why just design the room when you can design the house?
