I met the first love of my live on Friday the 13th of June 1997. We were together for two years and then we split ways. Last time I was in contact with this guy was in February of 2001. I have somewhat never really let him go. Every now and then I’ve thought about him, wondered where he lives and what he’d be doing.
Since he has a very common name I have tried looking him up with no luck. But on June 13th 2007, our tenth “anniversary” I found the e-mail adress to one of his best friends and through him I got the e-mail adress to my first love.
I wrote him an e-mail saying we met ten years ago and what has happened since then and so on. And I got a reply within a couple of hours.
Well, it didn’t really lead to anything, we haven’t met, but we did exchange a couple of e-mails and I found out what he was doing and how he was doing and where he lived. Turns out, nothing much have happened to him since 2001 and I kind of almost feel bad for him.
Anyway, I consider this goal as done. I encourage anyone to go ahead and try to find the person you are looking for. People are usually very helpful.

Ok, so I tried finding a long lost friend in Turkey. I contacted some people from Turkey here on this site to see if anyone would be able to help me out. I mean, the hardest part is the language and the culture in this case. I don’t know how things work in Turkey.
Like, here in Sweden, we have a government authority we can contact and all information about people, adresses, social security numbers and so on is public, so if we just ask for it you will be provided with the info.
In Turkey, I don’t know how things work. Anyway, only one out of three wrote back to be and that guy really couldn’t help me so I kind of gave up on finding this particular friend.

I just contacted a bunch of people here on 43-things and asked if they were able to help me out trying to find my long lost Turkish friend.
We met in 1997, kept in touch and met up in Copenhagen a couple of years later. Last time we had contact was in 2001 but since then it’s been nothing. I wonder where he is, what’s he doing and what his life looks like.

I have a handful of friends whom I lost contact with. Sometimes I miss them and think of looking them up. Sometimes I remember why we lost contact in the first place – maybe we had nothing in common anymore, we didn’t laugh together or we just didn’t like eachother that much.
So far I’ve discovered that a Christmas card can make a difference. I sent Christmas cards to two long lost friends and wrote my e-mail adress on the cards. Today I have reastablished contact with both of them.
