Mushrooms in July??

I’m pretty sure July isn’t the best mushroom season… but it’s been a cool and wet Spring so I’m hoping they are similarly behind schedule. :)
And, we’re going camping three times in July; so, there should be plenty of opportunity.

We went on Tuesday...

But, we didn’t have any luck.
Well, actually we found tons of mushrooms just not the kind we were looking for. We were looking for morels, but apparently the season is basically over for this area. :(
Oh, well. We’ll just have to figure out what is in season now and go get ‘em! :)

Woo!

So, we went hiking with Daniel yesterday to Bagby…
And, beforehand, we did a little research about Chanterelle mushrooms (what they look like, what false ones look like, how to harvest them, etc.).

So, as we hiked we scoped out the forest floor for anything that looked like it might be one and, we found some!
Andrew found most, but I found one, too!

It was really fun and we’re really excited to go out again for a trip focused on mushroom hunting!
