help the homeless

I live in an apartment complex. This morning on waking I noticed 2 homeless men going through the dumpsters looking for food or bottles and cans. I wanted to make them sandwiches. When I asked my common law boyfriend what I should do he said, “Nothing, you may offend them by making them sandwiches!!” I replied, ” what could be more offensive to them? Me making them a sandwich or them having to find a meal in a dumpster?” I looked back to see if they were still there and they were gone. My heart sank because I hadn`t helped them when I felt I should. This is still nagging at me. I added this to my list.
