I ran the Human Race in Meadville, PA with my mom this morning. It was her first 5K ever, and my fourth. Due to pollen I had to drop to a walk twice so that I could blow my nose so I could breathe again, but otherwise I was doing a good job of keeping pace with my mom’s trainer who came in less than a minute ahead of me. Mom did it in 32:01. She turns 60 on June 6th. (I’m 40 if you didn’t recall/know.) My shin splint didn’t bother me while I was running, though when I dropped to a walk it did hurt until I started running again. It’s a little swollen tonight, but I’m practicing R.I.C.E. and am sure it will be recovered in time for the marathon on the 7th of June.
