Okay, so I’ve got everything alphabetized. I need more shelving to put them on, but I knew that going into it. I also couldn’t find some of the DVDs on my list, so I’m sure they’re hiding under the bed or somewhere and will show up. I’ve got a stack of duplicates too that I’ll have to figure out what I’m going to do with. I’ll be giving some as gifts, but beyond that I’m not sure.

I have them all sorted into piles by alphabet. I need more racks though. I just tried putting one together and it’s not level or lining up. I’m going to have to take it apart again and start over. I should be done today though.
I’ve finished putting together all the new racks I’ve bought and have started sorting the DVDs. Within each rack I’ll go alphabetically. I’ve settled on segregating the DVDs into two sections, bedroom vs. living room. Bedroom DVDs are the ones that I watch in that room or don’t lend out. The living room ones are the public ones that I would let others borrow, or that I don’t watch on a regular basis.
I’m running out of time for this personal challenge so I need to get working on it. I bought four racks today at Big Lots and need to put them together. (I also need to put the two together that I bought over a year ago.)
I also need to decide if I’m going strictly alphabetical or not. I kind of like the idea of pulling out my tv show DVDs to their own section as well as my adult ones. When it comes to other genres that’s where it gets sticky. Is a thriller a horror film or a drama? Should I mix horror and sci-fi in their own rack? Or should I go by studio since I already have some studio sections started? And how much padding room should I leave in each row so I don’t have to keep redoing the entire racks when I go on my buying sprees?
Okay, so I’ve made this goal my personal challenge. When I last made an entry about this I owned around 400 fewer DVDs and had some new racks that I needed to put together. I still need to put them together. I still agree with the alphabetization concept, but am thinking of segregating some sections such as tv shows. I’ll decide that once I begin tackling this project.
Well, I just finished updating my DVD list and I currently own 1543 unique titles with a handful of duplicates that I’ll give to people as birthday or Christmas presents. Now begins the chore of alphabetizing them.
I went through my boxes of DVDs right before Christmas to find the duplicates to give to a friend as Christmas gifts. I’ve settled on alphabetical sorting and have bought two more DVD racks that I need to put together. Once I have them together, I will need to begin the process of sorting them.
I’ve gone through and found a bunch of duplicates and gave them away for Christmas. That was fun, but I’ve gotten more back as presents than what I gave away.
Okay, so I keep buying more and more, and have tried organizing them in the past but it’s the integrating the new purchases that is the biggest pain.
