So I just took a Lunesta. Let’s see how many posts I can do here on 43 Things before it kicks in and I’m laying face flat on the keyboard typing things like this

So tonight I did some of my paramedic clinical hours at the hospital from 5pm until 1am. After that I went to the ambulance hall and chatted with the on duty medic for a bit while dropping off equipment that was left at the hospital. After going home I’ve been watching some tv, using my cheers here, and writing my blog entry.
I go on call with the ambulance in just 3 hours and 15 minutes. I also should be at work in just under 6 hours. So just how much sleep am I going to get tonight? I can’t take a Lunestra tonight since I don’t have eight hours. So will I get three hours tonight? Four if I’m lucky?

Immediately after I took the pill, I developed a bitter taste in my mouth. No matter what I ate or drank it remained. In fact It’s still there 14 hours later.
The pill did not make me sleepy right off, nor did it seem to have any effect on my ability to concentrate. When I did close my eyes to go to sleep though, I was out like a light.
My doctor told me it was geared to give six good hours of sleep, and that’s exactly what it did. I woke up on my own and was wide awake just over six hours from when I had closed my eyes. The thing that fascinated me was that I was in the exact same position as I’d fallen asleep in. Normally when I get up in the morning the sheets are all twisted and turned, and yet here they were nice and neatly covering me.
My alarm wasn’t set for another three hours but I had no urge to try to go back to sleep, and now nine hours later am still not tired like I usually got after lunch.
As much as I try to avoid medications, I’m going to give Lunestra a thumbs up for me. Realize that not everyone reacts to medications the same way, and you should speak to your doctor before pursuing any new medications. Blah, blah, blah disclaimer blah…

When I was at my doctor yesterday we were discussing my sleep issues, and he gave me some samples of Lunestra. He also told me some tales of retrograde amnesia in some of his patients. I’m kind of intrigued about that possibility as I would have plausible deniability, but not remembering it could suck.
I’m going to try my first one tonight. I’ll let you know the results.

Congrats on your recent cheer goals Cathibeth. I just gave you my 2900th cheer. It’s a good thing we don’t sleep so we can give out our cheers when the come in.

Okay, so I’m not really an insomniac, but since I’d suggested the team in a post, I had to join up. I just don’t know when to stop and go to sleep. Then again, once I’m dead there’ll be plenty of time to sleep.
