When I was young, my grandmother and I would have tea parties. She had this tea pot and cup set from Japan that we would use. We’d make lady fingers to go along with our tea. I can still picture the metal containers of flavored teas that we would choose from, and how the strainer wouldn’t always catch all the tea leaves so I’d always have a few in my cup.
Eventually I grew too old for tea parties, but my cousins took my place with grandma.
This past year for Christmas, Grandma gave me and three of my cousins each one of the tea cups. The tea pot was broken years ago. It was a perfect gift because that cup will always remind me of her and the time we spent together.
