have more adventures

so jon and i drove up to visit jj at UCR who was hosting a party. somehow, we were responsible for bringing the liquor, (even though we were the youngest.) exasperation.

well, long story short, i, of all people, ended up asking two random strangers in the grocery store if they could do me a huuuuuuge favor, with the sweetest smile of course, and in a cute little black dress. they consented, i paid them outside, it was all good. jon and i even got an invite to the party that they were going to :)

funniest moment was actually a few weeks later, when jon called me up and asked,

“hey allison, remember that one time we drove up to riverside?
oh that’s right—no you don’t!”

they were rather upset because they didn’t think i’d ACTUALLY take them hiking, forreals, scaling an enormous mountain, haha. it was well worth it though. dry dusty terrain, ravishing wildflowers, and a quaint little lake tucked away in the valley. we lounged around on the bank and let our toes rest in the cool water, gossiping, discussing racism, fashion, chinese history, etc.

That translates to probably 5 miles of walking around

It was freezing after 7pm, but well worth it.

Highlights: ethnic philipino music/dances, caramel apple towers, playing hide-n-seek with the casa del prado building (we never found it), sitting on swings with a good friend, museum of photographic arts, cute little trams, luscious grass

My friend and I went to the beach, changed into black-tie attire (him in white dress shirt+tie, black slacks, dress shoes, shades; I in a classy little black dress, black gloves, pearls, stilettos) and drove to the Del Mar Races. It was an extraordinary day. We must’ve looked so strange changing into our secret agent raiment at the beach with half-naked people all around. But hey, it’s the beach and it’s California. The day ended with sitting in the grass gazing at the black starless sky, straining to see into the distance.
