Visit China

Over the past week we have been doing some planning and research to enable us to keep costs down and possibly go on a holiday in a few years time. I will continue this research over the next few days and the put a more detailed entry in probably next week. But we are certainly hoping to pull this holiday off in a few years time.

I have re-opened this goal because I am putting it down as one of the places I may travel to in 2011. I am tossing up between Beijing and Angkor. I will go to Beijing first if the holiday is not too expensive. Given that a discount airline called Air Asia has opened up on the Gold Coast where you can fly to Kuala Lumpur and then to a city near Beijing. The price of a trip has been reduced dramatically. So the cost issue may be able to be overcome and we may actually get to Beijing. I have also re-opened the goal of seeing the Great Wall of China because of this new possibility 21/06/09.

This is a goal that I have been doing a lot of research on lately. I am particularly interested in finding cheap airfares from Australia to Beijing. If not we would look at re-visiting Hong kong/Macau and spend a lot more time in Macau then we did last time. We are hoping, if possible to complete this goal in about five years time. At that time, however, it will be more expensive because we will have to pay child rate fares for our son.

Our original aim on this goal was to visit Beijing. If, however, we cannot afford the airfares we will go and re-visit Hong kong and Macau. Some of the cheaper airlines go to this destination. We are hoping to complete this goal in about three years time.

This is a goal that we are probably looking to complete in about 3 years time. I was looking at The Cathay Pacific Website in Australia and they look like they may have the occassional good specials a couple of months before flights go out. I presume with those that need filling. So we will keep an eye on them and also QANTAS just in case a special comes up at this time.

This is probably a goal that we will have to put back a little bit till we complete it. The possible cost of this trip is higher then we expected so we will probably put it back about three years.

We received our tax returns yesterday. We normally receive large returns as I do not claim the tax threshold. I am hoping that if we add $1.5K to $2K we will be able to go on our holiday next year. With our currency having dropped dramatically I am just worried our costs might blow out.

We have just bought a copy of Lonely Planet’s, “Travelling with children”. We did this so that we can have a relatively smooth holiday through catering to our childs needs.

I went to the doctors today and checked up on what vaccinations I will need. It looks like I will need a polio booster and an update on my tetnus shot. If we go into Malaysia when we stopover in Singapore I will need a typhoid vaccination.

The next step in our preperation for this visit is to make sure we have all our vaccinations. We have our hepatitas shots and will check the rest at our next doctors appointment.
