reading makes me happy. a good heavy fiction novel on a gorgeous summer day. and a hammock, maybe.

early music makes me happy.

i know this is really bad, ha ha, but SHOPPING makes me happy.

taking a long walk on a sunday makes me happy.

a good old fashioned blizzard, a nor’easter, makes me happy. emergencies bring people together in such a sweet way. suddenly you find yourself chatting with neighbors, helping an old lady shovel her front walk, remarking on the weather to strangers walking by on the snow-clogged street. and people jump out of their way to help you push your car.
even if on a regular day nobody even looks at each other.

of course, on the following days everyone fights about parking spaces. but i love that sweet little day of blizzard immunity.

i like introducing people who end up liking each other. that makes me happy.

video games make me happy.

food makes me happy.

rowing in the early morning makes me happy. getting out of bed so early does not make me happy.
