Get an MBA

First 5,000 word draft due next week… now to get motivated…

I’m ready for Tuesday’s presentation for the HR paper.

We’re doing an exciting presentation on Talent Management, based on a Marcus Buckingham paper.

One of the things that excites me about HR is how badly it is often done – so much opportunity for improvement!

although I’m finding the study a struggle… 2 more papers & I get my certificate & am tempted to stop there. I really don’t want to give up my summer to study accounting & economics (nothing personal)

Got through week 2 of lectures & enjoyed it!

I was a bit grumpy last night though – with all my readings & leaving it all to the last minute.

I promise to be better organised next week.

In my next 2 courses – Marketing & HR which I am looking forward to.

Although I prefer the term “Talent Management” to HR

I had a group assignment, individual assignment & a final exam this week!

I really wonder if I want to finish my MBA… I might investigate cutting down to 1 paper per semester so I can really focus on what I need to… shouldn’t the end result be about quality learning rather than stamina?

I’ve got this essay due soon & am thinking I will focus on:
- Aging workforce
- Gen Y’s impact on the workforce
- Millennium kids entering the workforce
- Geographic integration
- Tele-commuting
- Technology
- Transition to more Informational Age companies.
- Maybe the role of traditional managers will be gone by 2020???

I attended my orientation day to understand how the year would work.

I was excited by some of what I would learn & scared about how I would cope with the pressure of the study demands.

However, I think by focusing on the positive learning outcomes, this journey will be enormously rewarding!

That I could commit 20hours per week to getting an MBA … but … if I committed 20 hours per week to a cause for the next 3 years I could achieve something truly great … scary really … :-)

Today I feel like waiting a few years before embarking on this journey. I am not sure if I want to devote 20 hours per week to studying for an MBA.

I am currently feeling like I would rather learn to play the guitar…
