I took keylimepies advice and threw a big run into the mix. It took about 50 minutes.
My son came on his bike too & is looking forward to the next outing. He said “What can we call it when you run & I go on my bike? ... I know, An adventure!”
1. I had a late night
2. It’s getting darker in the mornings
3. I have an early training session at work
4. My foot’s sore
5. I’m too tired
But I went anyway & actually felt good for the whole day!
And the morning looked beautiful!
Fastest time yet. The pace felt challenging but good.
At one stage my legs were pushing me, near the end I had to push my legs.
One thing that made a difference today was my technique. By lifting my legs higher, the running felt more effective.
Usually I pass on a run when I play golf, but today I felt on a roll with my running & don’t want it to slip, so I went for a 5km run & played 18 holes of golf with a friend & my 14 year old son who parred 2 holes!
I wasn’t going to go for a run today, but I woke up at 7:30 and wanted to go back to sleep, then I thought of keylimepies training. So I got up and thought I’ll do my ‘big run’ again now my GPS/trainer thing is recharged.
The hill was steep & I walked a fair bit last time, but I began thinking what would keylimepies say to me? I kept running – all the way to the top! I felt stuffed (& my heartbeat was 184 which seemed high seeing I’m 40, I thought 180 was the max).
It was 7.75 km in 45 mins – If felt good to run all the way! Thanks again keylimepies for the motivation!
The pic is of my 4-legged running partner at the summit of the hill, looking at the other side…
I love how the scenery is different each time I go running!
I also love that new-found ‘zone’ when it doesn’t feel like ‘hard work’. It doesn’t last long enough though!
Today I went on my biggest run for a long time – an hour. Probably overdid it, but found the ‘zone’ on my way back home.
Going up the hill was hard work. But stopped to take a pic at the top.
Thanks keylimepies for the motivation to get out & pound the pavement. It was hard work though! My heart rate was around 165 which indicates I’m unfit & carrying about 5kg too much.
I love this run though. Do you recognise the photo as a Lord of the Rings (Fellowship of the Ring) scene? 3 mins from home!
Ran with 1000s of others and was happy with my time. Paced myself well & felt good afterwards. Now to keep it up!
