Get my PhD

Been meaning to go back to the struggle for months. This time I’ll be more successful and actually get the degree. After that I don’t think I’ll need any grading for a long long time. Will just do my own thing and cherish not having exams. Maybe even turn my mind to money-making for a change.

actually thinking what in the world would i want a phd for? that’s because it’s not been smooth as silk getting back in. if just getting the paperwork to get back in could be such a huge pain, can you imagine the “time” to be spent there?
and it seems even dumber because i’m happy now, and will likely be unhappy in grad school, the place has crappy energy, hehehe.

I’m less scared. Much less scared. Going to go back to grad school this Fall. Partly for the piece of paper (at least I’ll focus enough to get it this time.) Partly for the usual stuff – learning, immersion, meeting people, developing other hobbies, etc. But this time, I’ll do it quickly so I can be out in two semesters or less.

It’s a depressing life, init?

Just decided where to go when it’s over. I’ll take all my fans (family, friends) to Catalina Island for a weekend after graduation. June 2010, insha’Allah.
For now, still chilling and staying away from PhD work ;)

I don’t plan to marry anytime soon, but if I do I should go back and work on my PhD first. That should take much less than one year if I’m committed to it.

The story is, I recently quit my PhD program, took a Masters and a sabbatical/leave. Although getting a PhD is not high on my list of priorities, it could be fun to go back someday when I miss it sufficiently, and for closure.

Before starting a PhD I thought it’s such a cool thing for a girl to do, so that she won’t have to deal with the Mrs./Ms./Miss/Mice confusion: just call me “Dr.” thankyouverymuch. More girls should get PhDs. Yay!
