I just read this over at The Register :
~A BBC survey into Brits’ views on evolution has found that while 48 per cent of people opted for evolution as that which “best described their view of the origin and development of life”, 22 per cent opted for creationism and 17 per cent for for intelligent design. The remainder of the pollees “did not know”.~
Things like this scare me, I mean really keep me up awake at night wondering what the world is comming to. Even before I realised the fundemental flaws of all religion, Evolution was a given… sure, there are gaps, but a whole bunch of evidence, with some holes we don’t yet understand doesn’t mean that an alternative theory, with no evidence at all must be correct.
Sometimes I just want the FSM to come by and tell me it’s all okay, and that people are really a lot smarter then they pretend to be.

Once upon a time, I was a christan. I had a great church, great community, even went to a church summer camp once – which was both great fun, but also shown me some creepy moments of people having intense religious experiences, and then I moved house far away at an age where I didn’t really want to get to know people at the non church school for the last year, so I lapsed.
Then, over time I tryed to get back as I though more deeply about what my faith was, and what I wanted to do with my life.
At some point in the last year or so the last of these nagging thoughs vanished and I had a moment of reverlation: None of it makes sense, at all, to the very core of who I am relgion and faith has no use to me what so ever.
Now, I’m still a very spiritual person, I see beauty in many great things, and can find wonderful things from meditation, reflection, and Hallucinogenics at times, I connect with people on an emotional level, and have a great sense of community with my friends.
So FSMism is the sum of my reasons why I am now so firmly anti-religion, and it gives rise to discussion on that very subject.

I know what your thinking, the Flying Spagetti Monster? That’s just stupid, it’s a joke and no one seriously follows it.
Now ask your self why it’s stupid? Make a list of reasons.
Now, for each item on that list give reasons how your own choice of religion answers these questions in a way that is acceptable to you, that FSM isn’t.
I’d be very interested to know what people come up with.
