Well, the organization that runs the food pantries in the area, Love Inc, just opened a charity store so I’m going to start taking my old stuff there instead of to Goodwill. I mean, they’re both good causes, but Goodwill isn’t hurting for donations and the Love Inc store is still trying to get off the ground. I think I’m doing a good job at passionately supporting the food pantry, but not my other favorite charities.

Since I’ve been exercising more I’ve been wearing the Lupus t-shirts I’ve earned in the yearly walkathons. Just a little thing, but every little bit helps raise awareness, right?
I’ve started trying to buy things on sale when I do my grocery shopping each week for the express purpose of giving them to the food pantry instead of just giving whatever random old thing I have in my cupboards. Things I know they need from the time I spend volunteering there.
I took part in a walkathon for the Lupus Alliance and raised $60 for them. Plus I got a free t-shirt!
The first is the Lupus Alliance
My aunt died of lupus when she was only 25, so every year I take part in the walkathon.
The next is Half the Sky
This is an organization that works to improve the orphanages in China for the girls who will be raised there as well as those will be adopted.
The others are local organizations – a food pantry that gives groceries to families in need – I volunteer there once a month.
Our church does a lot of work with a region in Haiti, and I currently donate money so a child can go to school but I’d like to become more involved in this.
A center that helps mothers who can’t afford clothes, formula and baby things for their new babies. I donated a stroller to this organization but I’d like to become more involved – it’s such a worthwhile cause.
