I am on this everlasting quest to be extremely healthy, but sometimes that backfires. It requires a lot of will power: a large demand on the mind. I can eat healthy all day, but when I really, really want something unhealthy, I can’t always sustain that will power. I decided to add this goal after reading a short article (Ode magazine…great reading!) about how your body knows whats right. Instead of this health/well-being quest being about playing mental games, it should be about truly understanding what my body wants and needs…not what my mind wants. The mind is too easily manipulated. Instead of eating what my mind decides would be good and going to sleep when I want to sleep, I want to eat what makes my body feel good and sleep when my body tells me that it’s tired, etc. I need to overcome mental desires to do things that I know go against what is really good for me and be more in touch with my body. And with that, I should go to sleep, now.
