I made a casserole from the remains of yesterday’s roast chicken, with onion and carrot.
I didn’t refer to a recipe book, I just flew with what I’ve learned about making these kind of things from Mum. It came out really well! I even managed to make the gravy nice and thick (but not too thick).
I’m pleased with my efforts tonight – I’ll be cooking for me and Jimmy on Friday night as we’re not going out. An LJ friend shared a recipe last week which I think I shall try as it sounds relatively simple and delicious. Cooking is something I really need to practice, seeing as I’ll be cooking for me and Jimmy, most nights when we have our own place.
Yay!

Made with real wild blackberries (wild? They were livid etc.) It came out beautifully and was SO easy to make.
I promised Jimmy’s Dad I’ll make one next weekend when I’m down there!

I found a perfect notebook lying around in my room that I’ve decided to turn into a recipe book. It has plain white pages, a pink leather cover and a thin leather band to tie around it. I’ve labelled it as my recipe book and stuck some of my recipes into it. Some I’ve tried, some I haven’t.
Gotta try that Guinness Ice Cream some time!

I baked two lots of cake today – the Gingerbread didn’t come out great but the Autumnal Birthday Cake for Jimmy’s birthday has come out lovely. The downside being that I used a whole bottle of Maple syrup in it and I’ve had to buy a second as I’ve got to use more in the icing tomorrow. DANG!

Well I’m improving.
I’ve baked a few cakes lately and done a couple of fairly straightforward things like Old El Paso Fajitas and stir fry with a jar of sauce, but I’d like to be a better all-round cook.
I haven’t lost my chance to bake Jimmy some Gingerbread tonight, I could still do that…
