I’m up to 42 now this year so I’m well ahead. I’m aiming for 60 now!

42½, as I half read Peter Pan – I’d like to finish that today, if at all possible!
I really need to work on my TBR Mountain – it has just gotten ridiculous now! I have some BookCrossing books in there – if I can get through some of those before the next Ipswich Meet, it would be a start!
Being dumped by my boyfriend helped, perversely enough.
I’m not removing this goal though – I want to do it again next year.
I’m on my 15th book of the year, Four Letters of Love by Niall Williams and it is very good indeed – he is a heartfelt writer who penetrates deep into the well of myself. I feel every word as if it is embossed on my soul. As my plans to meet friends today have been cancelled, I have decided that I will try to finish this one as I am falling a little behind and I want to find out what happens with Isabel and Nicholas, if they finally DO meet and what happens then.
But I’m still on track if I can find a couple of books to read quite quickly!
I’ve already read four books this year. Unfortunately I’ve now got to read a book a well-meaning colleague lent me – a Danielle Steel. ARGH!
So here we go again. FInal total for 2005 – 26.
This year, I’m embarking on a world tour of books, as well as hoping to read 30 books. I’m starting in Japan with Haruki Murakami and I hope to read fiction by authors from a range of nations over the course of the year. Chile, Italy and Canada are all ready and waiting for me in Mount TBR!
As fast as I’m reading Time and Again, I won’t finish it soon enough. It’ll only be my 22 book this year. I won’t manage a book a week for the rest of the year, I know this much.
I’m sunk!!
I’ll have to make this into a 2006 goal, as I’m not gonna achieve it in 2005.
I think the main thing is that, at least I have read some absolutely top novels and non-fiction works, this year.
Perdido Street Station is bloody excellent but it’s also 850 pages long and SLOWING ME DOWN!!!!!!
I have to say that I’m not as grasped by Cloud Atlas as I thought I’d be. It feels a bit dreary in comparison to how I thought it would be, there’s not the magic that I was hoping for. But I shall soldier on; it may come to life before I reach the end.
Making very slow progress on Cloud Atlas, but I did manage to read a few more pages last night.
The trouble lately is that I haven’t found time during the day to read, even if I took my book downstairs with me. And I’ve been busy a lot lately – a lot of overtime at work and seeing a lot more of Jimmy than usual. They’re not exactly bad things because they get me out into the world, but still – it’s annoying to be making such slow progress.
