Well, my money saving plan was basically shot. New plan of action – go!
I bought a laptop. Over $2200 worth of laptop-y goodness. It’s on a Best Buy credit card. I’ve never had a credit card before, you see… so this is going to be quite an adventure in money management. I’ve been pretty good so far paying on it. I think after it’s done, I’ll have learned how to set aside some money each paycheck for “important” things (which of course will be actual important things, like a car or house).

I love splurging on random things. And even worse, I have useless things that I am planning on buying. New DDR pads, Xbox 360 (with HD player) or PS3 (for BluRay player), a HDTV to make use of all of that… and I’m sure there are more things that I want.
Maribeth gave me a wonderful idea. Instead of just not buying any of that stuff, I should couple it with intelligent purchases/payments. I won’t be able to buy the “toys” until I acheive a certain goal or two. So, my plans are as follows:
New DDR Pad(s) – $100-$200 – repay $300 I owe + open savings account with at least $500
Scrubs Season 2 & 3 – transfer car to my name + get car insurance + add $500 to the savings account
HDTV – $1000-$2000 (I don’t know exactly what I want yet) – some money to parents + $500 more in savings account + get apartment
If I can stick to this, it may be a while until I get an apartment of my own, but I think that might be a good thing – especially if I can’t hold on to money. :P

I did a quick run-through of the savings accounts and stuff that PNC offers. I want to research the whole concept of savings accounts a bit more, then perhaps, when I feel the time is right, drag Maribeth down to a branch with me and chat with one of the folks about opening one.
