Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

“Bloom where you're planted.” - Mary Engelbreit

Sometime I feel as if I’ve been putting off living
until everything goes the way I’ve envisioned.

Years ago I planned on moving out West, instead, I’m still on the East coast.

I’m planted here but dream of uprooting & going to “greener pastures”.
A friend of mine lives in CA but his version of my dream world doesn’t add up.

Seems that “greener fields” probably have more to do with a state of mind than an actual place.

The simple & the not-so-simple of updating your credit card info. online

I’ve already had my mail forwarded to my new address.
However online I need to update the info. manually.

Some companies make life easy but allowing me to log-in to my account and change my address without a hassle.

Other companies require not only the security info. to log-in but then in order to change the address they are requiring me to have my credit card handy for the security numbers on the back of the card.

It seems it’s getting harder and harder to access my own information in attempts to protect me from “hackers”.

I’m always amazed at how quick these companies are to take your money but make customers jump through circles to take that same money back.

One of the happiest days of my life will be when I free myself of credit cards & only use cash & debit cards!!!!!

Locked my apartment keys & my car keys in the car last night.
Luckily my landlord was home today so I could get a the spare key that I have…and luckily I kept it in the same bin I had before I moved.

Woo hoo

the piano got taken. So I’m officially all moved out.
Now I just have to officially move in.
Still @ my parents so that I can unpack all of the boxes. Next week I will move in regardless of how far I’ve gotten.

Today I snagged a perfect table

on craigslist for my kitchen. It could use refinishing but with a tablecloth it works great.

Happy my brother could swing it & help me to pick it up.

Spent a few hours unpacking boxes. I have so much more to do but I’m making somewhat of a dent.

Still getting it all sorted out

The piano was never taken
but hopefully by tomorrow, it will be.

I really want the piano to go to a good “home”
or a church or just to somebody who can appreciate it, rather
then to junk it.

Crossing fingers that it goes without a hitch.

Am i moving or going through war?

My last few posts will be from the house I’m moving from.
Right now my cat, Jordi is sleeping on the empty dining room floor.
He needs a bath, his white belly looks gray. Somehow he managed to get in the attic and shimmy up against dust.

The cats will spend one more night here. They, I’m sure don’t understand what is going on only that the house is nearly empty.

I’m sitting alone waiting for somebody to pick up the piano.
My cell is nearly dying & yesterday in the rush of moving, my friend packed up my charger & the keys to my new digs.

Missing dinner with everybody, but I’d rather be here now anyway.
I just need time to find some closure in the process. Tomorrow I will be back for the cats and a few odds & ends.

Due to miscommuication,

and I am being sincerely gracious with my phrasing of “miscommunication” move date is Monday (4 days).

Emotionally, I feel like burnt toast. There goes NOT stressing out. My original date was June 15th. I should be packing now…and probably packing like a maniac until moving day. Not getting online writing about it.

a long day of moving

happy to see many of craigslist freebies gone this a.m.
especially the mattress & an a good pair of sneakers
making a few dollars selling a vintage bike on craigslist
my brothers friend took 1/2 of my old theater books today
a free moving box from Subway sandwiches

the heat didn’t help
but the cold drinks did

& realizing that most of my “things” hardly mean that much to me
makes letting them go that much sweeter
