Beach theme

I’ve decided to take the idea of beach house & run with it.

I already have seashells in glass and drift wood.
To my collection I added a beaded pink Lobster.
2 Starfish that my cousin brought for me while we were at Cape Cod.
A curtain with nautical instruments.

Finally!

Brought one of my cats home. He’s been with my parents since I moved. So happy to have him home & I know he’s happy to be here. Currently, he’s dosing on the couch next to me. If I look close enough I can almost see his grin :-D

Projects

This week I’m going to work to complete 3 projects.
Two are small jobs.
One is medium size.

Job 1
Restore a metal candle holder

Job 2
Restore a metal tray

Job 3
Sand, stain and varnish the vanity table (which will become my computer table)
Consider building a draw for storage.
The old one broke.

Tonight I began Jobs 1 and 2
The first step. Sanding off paint and rust.
Tomorrow I can finishing sanding.
Then it’s a matter of painting the items.

Getting creative in small ktichen spaces

I took an old bookcase of mine that was once in a bedroom & it fit nicely in the kitchen corner. Right now I have two plants sitting on top & the garbage can is inside the cabinet. Eventually once I get the shelves in I’m going to use it for storing my cookbooks but also as a makeshift pantry.

Purchased an eco-friendly tablecloth and 2 place mats. For my napkins I used a planter as a holder. I have a wooden tray which I originally purchased solely as a napkin holder but with “re-thinking” the item, it serves as a tray for the “new” napkin holder, the salt/pepper shakers and a candle.

I love it. :-)

Yesterday my brother & I purchased my living room couch @ IKEA

I’m really happy with my purchase.

Not only did I save money by getting a $53 dollar gift certificate off of the frame. I was able to save another $25 because I brought brand new slip covers (usually $50) that were discounted because of damaged packaging (aka an open package). That’s almost an $80 savings.

Oddly enough, I’m sitting on the living room floor as I right this because I’m going through paperwork and the floor gives me a better place to spread out.

I need, truly need space saving shelves...

After researching several sites online, I’m not happy with the available choices so I’m going to see if I can make my own.

3 for the living room
2 for the “office” aka living room alcove
2 for the bedroom

Found a really helpful site for ideas
