Try to keep in mind that the Amish do not like to be gawked at as though they are on display. While it’s natural for people to be curious about such a different culture within our own country, please remember that these are their daily lives and they just want to go about their business and be left alone. For the most part, they are very private, that’s why they choose such a “secluded” life.
Personally, I’ve not only been to Amish markets and villages but also in an Amish home but this is only because my childhood friend’s grandparents owned a farm surrounded by Amish culture in central PA. One summer I stayed with my friend at her grandparents farm where they would often trade goods with the Amish. But it’s not like you can just walk into their lives as though they are some tourist attraction. The best place to meet them without interfering in their lives is at a Farmer’s/Amish Market.
