move to Portland Oregon

Can it be considered a move to a new city when you’ve been there almost two months and still can’t find a place to live?

I figure part of the problem is I made the mistake of moving at the end of the year. With the holidays, people don’t seem to be in a great hurry to respond to e-mails asking about apartments.

Other than that minor issue, I think Portland is great. Hopefully I get the living situation settled soon so I can’t actually stay here for a while.

I’ve spent the last year and a half in the New York City area and, while I could stick around, I really want to try someplace new. Since I’ve never been to the West Coast, that seemed like a good starting point. Portland sounds like a good mix of city and nature, so I’m going to give it a try.

Now I just need to figure out exactly when I’ll be heading out there. So far, I have it narrowed down to sometime in November. Hopefully nothing comes up between now and then to screw that plan up.
