Weekly update
I bounced all around this week, but averaged out to a weight of 305.6- a 1 pound loss, and that’s something I’d take week in, week out.
I’ve been diligent about tracking all of my calories this past week. The weekends are harder, naturally. Saturday clocked in at 3,044 calories, and Sunday was 3,797. Curse you girl scouts and your samoas!
I’ve got to do better this week – a two pound loss isn’t too much to ask. Back to the crudites and the skyscrapers. I’m feeling good.

Had a pretty good day yesterday – ate reasonably until it was time to cook dinner, then I got into a vicious pre-dinner snack / dinner / post-dinner snack trap. For compromise, I’m trying to at least have healthier snack options available at night (Raisin Bran is my favorite).
Climbed that same 30-story building today – it’s a gorgeous art-deco, with marble staircases and wooden railings all the way up. Plus, since I was the only one there, I was even able to read about 30 pages while I was walking – don’t try that on the sidewalk!
While I’m still weighing in every day, I’ve decided to report only on mondays.

What i like about the hacker’s diet is the 5-day rolling average. I can have a day like yesterday (burger, reuben, a donut or three), and it doesn’t destroy my weigh-in (it just gives me a dirty look and reminds me to get back at it).
Today – started off with oatmeal and dried cranberries. Drinking lots of water, but with a new twist today. I work on the 5th floor, and I’ve decided to use the 10th floor bathroom. That guarantees a little activity spread out throughout the day. At lunch I’ll have a nice walk, and think about whether I’m really hungry or not.
Update: Climbed a 30-story building at lunch. Took it nice and slow, but now every time I look at the skyline I can think, “Yep. Climbed that one.”

...to whoever mentioned the Hacker’s Diet. I downloaded it yesterday. That was a really fun read; it’s not often a weight loss book makes you laugh. It’s also not often that a weight loss book assumes that you understand the finer points of statistics.
I’m back to being inspired. Based on hacker’s suggestion, I’ll be weighing myself every day, but only reporting the 5-day running average.
Yesterday and today I cut way back on my eating, and I’ve discovered that most of the time when I think I’m hungry, I’m actually thirsty. Seeing as I work in water treatment, I’m a big tap water fan, so I’ve been chugging it down. I also climbed my requisite 15 flights of stairs at lunch.
One frustration I’ve had is that my digital scale reports an error for any reading above 300, so I’ve had no practical way to record my progress. And you don’t want to ask the clerk at Target if they have any higher-capacity scales. Yeesh. So today I’m getting a new, analog scale so I can track my progress daily. Worse comes to worse, I’ll put one foot on each scale and add them up, like they do for Sumo wrestlers. That’s a pleasant thought.
Keep at it, everybody!

Am I too tired to exercise, or am I too tired BECAUSE I don’t exercise? One thing I know; part of why I am tired is because I’m carrying an extra hundred pounds everywhere I go. My knees crack with every step I take. My feet hurt all the time. Is pizza really worth the pain, the fatigue, the shame?
I climbed 18 flights of stairs at lunch today, and now, half an hour later, I am no more tired than I was before. Exercise in short spurts might even be invigorating. But some days the thought of climbing those steps is just too daunting.
Gained 4 pounds over the last 2 weeks. It’s too easy to get back into bad habits.

Had absolutely no change on my weekly weigh-in. I’ve cut way back on my sweets (it helps that it’s Lent), but this past week, I’ve eaten too much junk and not walked nearly enough. No change is good news, considering my bad behavior.

Down 5.1 pounds, for a total of 5.3 pounds in 10 days. I don’t expect this pace to continue, but a jump start is always nice!

Weekly weigh-in, and I’ve lost all of 0.2 pounds. With the conisderable margin of error, week one has shown no progress.

Weighed in last night at a whopping 312. This is a great baseline. Here we go.
