I did great from January until July, but have been lazy this summer. Here’s an article I wrote for eHow about the topic:

I found last year that when I was too tired to write in my journal, it helped if I stuck a post it note on the page with some keywords from that day. The next day or a few days later, I could go back and journal that day reasonably well. Sometimes it even helped to look at the day after I’d had time to digest and mentally process it.
They make large page sized post it notes now, so I can note down enough to jog my mind later. This enabled me to achieve 365 days journaled in 2006. A first for me.
I have more time now and have gone back to fill in gaps in my journal. My old e-mails (sent and received) give me some info for it.
Lately, when I’m not in the mood to write about the day, I note some keywords on a post it note and stick it on the empty journal page. Days later, I can fill that page in with an expanded version of the keywords.
