i have to visit this place. tenuous link, i know, but i am so childishly excited at finding out this piece of info that i simply had to write about it. this photo is of a ‘pudding house’ yes, a pudding house (!!!!) at montacute house in somerset, owned by the national trust. it’s an elizabethan manor house (sense and sensibility was filmed there apparently) and they have a gloriously named pudding house where diners would retire to savour their pud in pleasant surroudings. now i have never thought that the elizabethan period had an awful lot to recommend it really, nasty fatal illnesses, dreadful smells, buckets of pee thrown out of the window onto your head and the stress of making sure you were the right religion to fit the monarch’s whimsy BUT any society that can have a house built purely to eat your pudding in is right on with me. what a lovely and exceptionally civilised idea.

extremely hard for me to let go and stop trying to plan ahead i am trying to do just that. there always seem to be so many obstacles thrown into my path which frustrate me so i am attempting to just go with the flow, take opportunities if they arise but basically give myself up to a greater plan which i do not yet understand. with this in mind i hope and pray that this time next year i will have burst out of my cocoon and will emerge like a shiny new butterfly, ready to flutter in the breeze and bask in the sunshine.
