But not great! I always forget about stuff that’s in the fridge. It’s a horrible habit. I wonder if it comes from getting yelled at for leaving the door open, because I’m really anal about that now. I HATE having the fridge door open any longer or any more often than absolutely necessary. This is only exacerbated by my ecological tendencies, especially when paired with the basic understanding that cold air is heavier than room temperature, so when you open the fridge, all the cold air immediately spills out of the fridge, all over the ground. Now that I visualize it, I almost DREAD opening the fridge!
So I need to open it, open the drawers, look around, and really familiarize myself with what’s in there.
And then eat it!

As part of my goal to remove artificial foods from my diet, I buy salad, pears, carrots, apples, bananas, and lots of healthy things to eat. The problem is that I don’t eat them quickly enough, and end up having to throw most of it away. I’ll get 2 bags of salad on sale, and eat half of one before the rest wilts. I’ll get 2 pears and 3 bananas, and eat one of each before the rest are mush on the counter. I need to follow through on my good intentions to eat better.
Yesterday, shopping with GF, I picked up a clementine, nectarine, something else peach-like, an apple of some variety I’ve never tried, a different variety of mango, and I think something else in addition to the salad and veggies we got as well as the pomegranate she got. We ate most of the salad last night with dinner and then had the pomegranate for dessert. I should’ve brought a couple small fruits to work today to have with lunch, but forgot. I will eat something tonight, and bring something tomorrow. This is my first test.
And living in South Florida, I have a pretty ready supply of fresh fruits and vegetables. We can buy local, in-season foods year round. So the only thing stopping me from this goal is myself.
